RSI VIDEOFIED EN-GRADE 2

VDT in association with RSI Videofied are pleased to annouce that the following products now conform to EN50131-Grade 2 for internal applications.

Compliance with Grade-2 (50131) means that a URN can be obtained when the system is installed by an approved reseller. Limitations to this are that only certain products in the RSI Videofied range are approved and the system can only be installed in an internal environment. However obtaining a URN guarantees a police response.

Wednesday 26th October 2011, VDT strenghtens its links with the University Of Leicester in order to gain programming knowledge allowing it to become a software development company for the security industry.

SECURITY GUARDS' ROVING EYE

A SMALL firm's new software is poised to transform the power and range of patrolling security guards by allowing them to monitor remote sites and receive video alarms while on the move.

Developer Video Domain Technologies Direct (VDT) says its product could prove the most significant and affordable weapon yet for companies such as transport operators and church organisations to protect property from metal thieves.

VDT's WebEye CMS is web-based and accessible to different cable suppliers.

Its principal hardware is a 3G phone or small computer to access video intrusions picked up by security cameras.

Guards can respond more quickly to an incident, increase their efficiency and own safety and prevent wasted time by more quickly identifying any false alarms.

Daily Express's Maisha Frost writes: Most influential on VDT's fortunes has been its ability to identify opportunities through partnerships and funding. From the start it has employed a growth consultant."We saw the gap in the market for live video alarm handling solely for the web that no one else was doing," says Clive Mason. "We had shown we could deliver products that were easy to install. This led to rapid sales and helped when we needed software development."Lacking the skills in-house, Mason and director Dave Overton followed their growth consultant's advice that affordable technical solutions could be best found by looking at what universities could offer. The result has been an innovations partnership with the University of Leicester, part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund. Mason estimates the link has saved the company between £80,000 and £100,000 in development costs. One of its staff joined the university's computing science department to create the software and the company hosted a graduate internship that has now led to a marketing job with VDT."This collaboration has made a huge difference to our sales and our planned move into export markets such as the US," says Mason.
