You will not find these type of cameras anywhere else in the United Kingdom. They have been specially designed for VDT (UK) Ltd and are one of a kind. All three are very high resolution, colour true day/night cameras with a unique feature. All three contain a special 940nM IR pass filter.

What does this mean?

They are designed to work with a certain type of infra-red illuminator. All infra-red illuminators have a fequency range. A typical infra-red illuminator works at 840nM and these type of illuminators emit a red glow, which is clearly visible to any passer-by or intruder. An IR illuminator working in the 840nM range is not suitable for covert or semi-covert operations. This requires an illuminator using the 940-950nM range; these illuminators emit the faintest of glows, which are only visible to the naked eye in complete darkness and when the person is stood approximately 12 inches from the illuminator itself.

Any camera that wishes to use these type of illuminators need to be adapted with a special filter to work correctly. All cameras of this type have tended to be monochrome by nature and utilise an Ex-View chipset. Ex-View determines how well a camera works in very low light situations, but this type of camera tends to perform better in a darker environment and is not so good in the day.

Our range of cameras contain a Sony Super HAD chipset, which performs perfectly during daytime hours and provided it is associated with an IR illuminator, works effectively during the hours of darkness. With this range of cameras you are getting the best of both worlds: A perfect picture during the day and night. What makes this an ultimate camera is the fact that we are able to achieve a very high resolution (detailed) colour image during the daytime and an automatic switch over to monochrome when lighting is not available.

To the right are images taken from CAM 0158, both in lit and unlit circumstances using our Illuminator 004.

Please note: The monochrome images were taken in total darkness.
